Donald T. Cohen, CPA

Donald T. Cohen, is a director and founder of MedReceivables Advisor, LLC. He has more than 25 years experience in certified public accounting, outsourcing medical billing industry, advanced financial strategies and business management. His primary responsibilities include assisting clients with business management and physician billing outsourcing needs.

Previously, Cohen served as president of Medical Billing and Practice Management Consultants, Inc., a national receivables management company he founded and owned (which was later acquired by a national receivables management company). He also served for two years as chief financial officer of S.A.C. Capital Management, a five billion dollar New York-based hedge fund. Cohen began his career as an IRS agent and was also the managing partner of Marvan & Cohen P.A., an accounting firm specializing in tax and financial planning for high-net-worth clients.

Mr. Cohen is a managing partner of Newman + Cohen Financial Management, Inc. which is an affiliated financial services company offering financial and insurance based products for professionals.

In addition, Mr. Cohen is President of Donald T. Cohen, C.P.A., PA., an affiliated Certified Public Accounting firm offering accounting services to clients of MedReceivables Advisor, LLC.

A graduate of the University of Miami, Cohen is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Medical Group Managers Association. He is also a state-licensed life, health, and disability insurance agent and holds several securities licenses.

David B. Smith

David B. Smith, is director of operations for MedReceivables Advisor, LLC. David has over fifteen years of medical billing and collections management experience. Prior to joining our company, David was director of operations for a large national receivables management company. In his prior capacity, David was responsible for overseeing the medical billing operations for various hospital based physician specialties including Pathology, Emergency Room, Radiology and other physician specialties.

David has an undergraduate degree in business from the University of Florida. In addition, David holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Miami. David and Mr. Cohen have worked together for over 15 years servicing the management needs of physicians in the South Florida market.
